A hand crafted branch of silver is set on mother of pearl tear drops to create these stunning white earrings
changes in silver jewellery and fashion accessories for Autumn 2008. The influence of the catwalk and the magazine.
The photograph taken this month shows the Drakecircus shopping mall in its full glory with a vast tract of wasteland surrounded by a broken purple fence covered in Graffiti. This fence some say has been left there deliberately so as to cause traffic congestion which will lead to the re-routing of buses away from the rival armada shopping centre.
Rarely do we talk about parochial matters, however in the interests of our Plymouth customers we must warn that coming to our jewellery shops in the evening can be hazardous. Whilst we pay the same rates and BID levy than the other shops unfortunately those funds are not equally applied as is evidenced by the lack of not just Christmas lights but any lights. This represents yet another example of the misappropriation of public funds (the business improvement levy) by the Plymouthcitycentre company.
The new 15% vat rate has already been factored into the prices so you can feel comfortable in the knowledge that with every £10 you spend the full benefit of the governments 25p has been passed on.
The price of silver has fallen. The impact of those falls on prices may be difficult to assess because of the turmoil in the currency markets, particularly the increasing strength of the US dollar. nevertheless we will endeavour to keep our prices as competitive as possible.
The general feedback that we received from you was that this event is associated with the spending of Public taxes for promotion of private businesses and is associated with the craft fairs and continental markets which sell counterfeit goods. For that reason we do not participate or have any involvement with the Plymouth Style Week contrary to recent statements that we do not pay our rates.
Cheap copies of goods, including copy Playboy, copy "Dolce and Gabana" and fake channel jewellery, made in unethical Chinese Factories, are being sold at 50 times their cost price under the false banner of 'hand-made' goods. Your Council Taxes are being used to subsidise and fund this market. The Council are being conned. DON'T BE CONNED AS WELL.
"Yiwen tang" our economic consultant has warned that global copyright enforcement's has to drastically change to avoid a global economic catastrophe. Yiwen says "about 30 years ago if we produced an item of jewellery in the Uk, initially we had to capture the local market, firstly Plymouth and then Devon.
If that product was successful we could launch it further at national jewellery fairs and with luck we could break into the national market. Once the national market was established we would then aim for the international market. Our experience was no different to all other UK manufacturers upon whom the UK economy is heavily dependant. Nowadays if we design an item and it succeeds on the local jewellery market, within days that product has been copied and is being mass manufactured in China without any regard to international copyrights. In the short term this destroys the UK export market however in the long term it will destroy them as well as there will not be anyone around to buy their (copied) products, particularly as all the falling western currencies and economies become worthless.
Once again the price of silver is under pressure as investors switch away from shares to the safe commodities of gold and silver. However that pressure is unlikely to be as severe as previously experienced because the price of oil has fallen. This makes mining, distribution and refinement of silver faster and cheaper. Similarly problems in the banking sector were fairly predictable and once settles a new robust equities market should regain the grounds it has previously lost.
With the global recession hitting the family budget now is a good time to combine that purchase of a fashion accessory with the acquisition of a potential long term investment. Customers who bought a silver chain five years ago for £3.95 now find they can sell that chain for £6 scrap which is a much higher return compared to high street interest rates.
A secret dispute between the worlds largest silver depositors and two leading banks in the west will lead to the collapse of both those banks. The first will occur in the second week of September and the second in the last two weeks. The dispute centres around the fraudulent activity of credit card cloning by bank staff costing those banks over a trillion dollars. The blame on the other hand will focus on the sub-prime mortgage market in order to preserve the integrity of the banking systems. The effect on silver prices will once again send it in an upward direction as investors pull out of equities in favour of the safe havens of the precious metal commodities.
Once again this season we review the current changes in the price of raw silver.
Overall the past 3 months has seen a mild roller coaster with prices in raw silver. There are indications that the previous record high may be due another correction as some say the precious metal is currently over- valued. One of the major factors continues to be political uncertainty in the middle east which has helped to inflate both the oil price and commodities markets. Offset against this is the factor that commercial stockpiles of raw silver have grown in the past quarter particularly in the London precious metal exchange.
This seasons fashion catwalks have seen two items of jewellery accompany some of the latest styles. First is the large, glitzy and colourful cocktail ring and second is jewellery that has been inspired by the solar system. Silver rings with stars and moons have been particularly popular whilst some of the large multi- gemstone rings have also been popular. However to what extent the catwalks and fashion magazines have influenced current trends and designs is largely speculative, since our experience has shown that the large high street fashion retailers tend to buy in whatever design or style can be used to maximize profits. The factories choice of colour and cut is primarily governed by manufacturing speed and overheads.
