To combat increased nuisance tele-sales and unsolicited cold callers, we have pioneered a new system which identifies and records the initial call as a telesales and then transfers the call to a premium rate telephone line. All our numbers are registered at the telephone preference service and under legislation - in particular the Privacy and Electronic (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, unsolicited sales or marketing calls to such numbers are illegal. Ordinarily the maximum amount a premium rate can be set at is £1.50 a minute however in cases where there has been a violation of these Directives we are entitled to and BT will enforce payment of calls at up to £25 per minute. With the opening of several new major mines, production of refined Silver is likely to see a 6th consecutive increase. Whilst consumption in Photography is falling, consumption in heavy industry and other electronics is increasing. Similarly commodity investment is still increasing however all this extra demand will hopefully be offset by extra supply. It is anticipated this year will see a general stabilization of prices with only a remote possibility of Silver hitting over its $20 per ounce high, however increased oil prices raises the energy costs of extracting Silver which may impact on further rises.

Following the evacuation of the North Hill Shop last Thursday by anti-terrorist police after the arrest in the nearby cafe of the Exeter bomber, we have now adopted a strict policy of screening all packages prior to opening. Those which do not contain jewellery or are not from returning customers or from recognized third parties, will be destroyed immediately. For this reason we urge wholesalers and jewellery companies not to send any promotional material as it will be waste their print and postage.

This spring sees a return in vogue for Turquoise. The light blue stone is rapidly increasing in popularity as indeed are the banana bars with a wide range of age groups now wearing the popular belly accessory.

Silver Prices Stabilize

Despite their historical high, there are signs that the price of raw silver is beginning to stabilize. These past seven days have seen a 8.886% drop on its record high to a price of $16.79. One reason is confidence is slowly beginning to return to the stock markets following the recent exposure of major US banks to sub-prime mortgages, the extent of which is far less than many feared. As big investors return, their portfolios are financed from the sale of the precious metals they had accumulated over the past 6 months.

Drake Circus Shop to Expand

Our Drake Circus shop is set to expand shortly with the addition of a new office suite and web-site facility room. Once the move is complete we hope it will improve our delivery times for the dispatch of items, particularly the new designs of pendants and bangles.It will also act as a nerve centre of our internet operations bringing together all the various departments under one roof.
