The Winter Stones
The rich dark reds of a garnet stone have a long history dating back as far as the Bronze Age. Garnets have also been mentioned throughout the bible and indeed garnet was chosen by Jacob to represent the family of his son Judah.
Another gemstone ideally suited for the winter months is Amethyst. Its rich purple colour will blend well with the darker blues and greens of winter coats. There is a close association between nature and the colours used in the fashion industry including jewellery, For example one of the colours of summer is often thought of as turquoise which represents clear blue sunny skies.
Birthstones associated with Winter
The winter months for the northern hemisphere are December, January and February. The birthstones for those months are Blue Topaz, Garnets and Amethyst respectively.
