Traditionally the autumn months were associated with the harvest. During this period of gathering the fruits and crops, many cultures had their harvest festival. Many of these festivals were symbolised in jewellery designs and you often find amulets, pendants and Brooches decorated with the fruits of the autumnal harvest.

Jewellery for Autumn

With light evenings and cool sunsets the Autumn months are often associated with earthy tones such as oranges, browns and yellows. The perfect addition to silver for this purpose is amber.

Amber is millions of years old and created from the fossilization of natural tree sap. It is often found in the Baltic and Indonesian regions.

The Autumnal Stones

The natural beauty of amber is both fascinating and full of lovely autumnal colours.

Another stone which also has such colour is Tigers Eye, with its rich veins of dark and light brown.

Other gemstones that you might also look for are Carnelian, which is often a reddish-orange. Another is Citrine which is yellow, although real citrine can be slightly expensive.

Birthstones associated with Autumn

In the northern hemisphere the months of autumn are generally considered to be September, October and November. The birthstones for those months are Sapphire, Opal and Citrine respectively.
