news complete puzzle ring

We have assembled a new set of instructions on how to assemble a silver puzzle ring. We hope these are helpful as we know a few customers have struggled in re-assembling their puzzle ring.

A resume of the latest developments and news in the silver jewellery industry throughout 2009 and 2010.

June 2010

As the football world cup begins, sales of our England flag earrings have rapidly increased and we envisage selling out before the tournament ends. (if England reach beyond the semi-finals)

silverstall baby joanne

This is the season of silverstall babies. This is Joanne who is now 3 months old and is the baby of one of our long serving jewellery team. As an expert in the field, her mother insists that the current practice of using amber necklaces for teething, is ill-advised and dangerous. Amber is a resin, with carcinogenic material that can be released into the babies mouth. It also represents a choking hazard.

Our heart felt sympathies go to the staff of the Plymouth store Derry's who predictably will be closing in June. Derry's staff have always been gracious and enthusiastic. We hope they can all find alternative employment as quickly as possible. We also regret losing our neighbours Ham and Sewell who have closed this week for similar reasons. It gives us no pleasure to say that we ourselves are fortunate at being able defend ourselves from the anti-competitive activities of a local cartel.

april2010

This month sees a strong surge in demand for amber jewellery, in particular the amber rings. One reason has been the unseasonable colder weather which brings out the heavier more earthy clothing for which amber can perfectly accessorize.

March 2010

Silver spot prices continue to rise and with even greater global financial uncertainty there is now very little likelihood those prices will fall. This is good news for investors but bad news for jewellery manufacturers as higher costs cannot easily be passed onto the purchasers.

We are on facebook. You can make comments, watch developments and even enrol as a fan of the silverstall which in due course may bring discounts and added features.

February 2010

We have expanded our online activities by amalgamating amberstall.com into silverstall.com. Therefore you can now buy directly from us the many items of amber jewellery such as these beautiful amber rings that were previously sold online at amberstall.com

January 2010

Happy new year to all our loyal and respected customers.

drake circus shop

This year will see the consolidation of our Drake Circus shop into the Armada centre. One reason is we have seen the rates for that shop triple in the past 2 years despite a collapse in the footfall due to the purple fence blockade. Nevertheless it is an opportunity to bring all our jewellery under one roof. The last day for shopping at Drake Circus has now passed. (16th january) and we would like to thank all the loyal customers of that shop for their support. We also would like to add our sympathies to the other shops that are due to close for similar reasons in the coming months, including a landmark Plymouth Department store and a plethora of smaller businesses.

December 2009

Festive greetings to all our loyal and valued customers. This Christmas welcomes the return of plain and chic designs in silver. It seems that silver jewellery is as popular this year as ever, notwithstanding the rapid price rise for raw silver.

Brest Cancer Awareness

A collection of ladies from all around the globe outside our drake circus jewellery shop promoting brest cancer awareness. Attention is also drawn to the large number of men who also contract this illness.

October 2009

Now is the season of postal strikes. Strike action will affect deliveries on Thursday to Saturday 24th October so we strongly advise you do NOT order anything online between these dates as past experience has shown that a large volume of post during strike periods goes missing.

September 2009

A new look store will be unveiled in the early part of next year. Our shop found in Drake Circus will relocate into the Armada centre shop. The relocation will centralise our stock in Plymouth giving consumers the same choice without having to walk between two shops. In the meantime we send our appreciation to the Wisconsin board of commerce for their successful 'positively plymouth' campaign which many of our customers have suggested will be plagiarised for our local authority. We have seen our designs recently plagiarised and appear on tax subsidised street markets operated by the Plymouth City Centre company so we know how Wisconsin must feel. We have written to linda Gilroy MP asking for an explanation as to why so much money will be spent on a second-hand marketing campaign.

August 2009

For some reason a recession always brings out the more ostentatious items onto the jewellery catwalk. This current recession is no different with increased sales of our larger more gregarious costume rings. What is increasingly becoming a fashion icon is the silver skull ring which hitherto had remained in the domain of bikers. It seems that every recession brings rounds its surprises in the world of silver jewellery.

European City Guide

It seems that many Uk jewellery businesses have received an official looking demand for nearly 1000 euros. Over the past few weeks jewellers throughout the Uk (including two of our shops based in Plymouth) have been targeted. The form you receive in the post is a fairly official looking and has been drafted in such a way as to make itself look like a binding legal document. In essence it demands 997 euros. It is not a lawful contract and we urge both customers and fellow jewellery businesses to return their envelope with whatever rubbish is near to hand.

Price of Silver Rises

Prices of raw silver have risen throughout July thanks in part to a weakening US dollar. As the dollar falls investors seek safe havens in the form of Gold and Silver hence one of the reasons why the price has risen and is continuing to rise.
